Greg became a principal in Carter Miller Sansing in 1994 after joining Brad Carter following graduation from Mississippi State University in 1984. He has, since graduation, taken additional course studies and perused personal studies in all areas fundamental to structural engineering in order to be current and proficient with all building and design codes applicable to structures. After four years of the required EIT internship, he took and passed the NCEE professional engineering examination, becoming a PE in 1990. Since initial licensure he has amassed nearly 30 years’ experience in the design and construction of foundations and superstructures. All design elements were composed of either, steel, concrete, wood, aluminum, light gauge steel, or composite materials. Additionally, much of his experience has been obtained in the structural evaluation of existing structures and forensics. AISC connection design and certification on shear, moment, heavy gusset, seismic connections has also been a large part of his practice. In order to better serve CMS clients and further expand CMS states of licensure, in 2018, he successfully passed the NCEE 16 hour Structural Engineering Licensure Examination (8 hour Vertical Examination and 8 hour Lateral Examination) thus achieving qualification to become an “SE.” This higher level of structural qualification is required for structural engineering licensee in a select few states.
