Impact Damage
Impact damage to a structure can be a result of vehicular traffic, fork lifts, accidental overload,
falling trees, and other falling objects. Each case must be evaluated and the strength of the damaged
components determined. Finally, analysis should be made on how each damaged component affects
the rest of the structure.
It should be common practice that where vehicles are working in close proximity to structural
support elements, protection should be provided. Bollards should be installed and even retrofitted to
a vulnerable location.
